Domaine Terlato & Chapoutier is a collaboration between legendary French wine grower, Michel Chapoutier, and wine industry icon, Anthony Terlato. The single vineyard L-Block is from a tiny “L” shaped plot that survived the 13-year drought without irrigation. South-facing and at an altitude of 400m, this is a low yielding and cool block. The wine is powerful and intense but with delicate, fine tannins.
Soil
The soil is composed of schists, lauzes rocks made of limestone and quartz.
Harvest
Harvest is performed at maturity, usually 2 weeks later than neighbouring plots, avoiding over-maturation.
Vinification
100% destemmed grapes are fermented in concrete tanks. Maceration lasts from 4 to 6 weeks. A gentle extraction by pumping-over and a long maceration on skins ensure elegant and fine tannins.
Maturing
100% of the wine is aged for 18 months in French oak barrels.
Tasting
