2016 Domaine Tournon Landsborough Vineyard Chardonnay
Single vineyard, organically farmed
Grape Variety: 100% Chardonnay
Region: Pyrenees, Victoria
The 1.4 Ha Chardonnay block on the Landsborough vineyard sits at an altitude of 390m in the Western Pyrenees Ranges on a contoured slope and is organically farmed.
The 2016 vintage was dry and naturally low yielding in our vineyards due to minimal irrigation. The cool nights in our Landsborough Vineyard allowed the grapes to ripen slowly and achieve maturity while retaining freshness.
Well drained soil comprised of loose quartz with shale and siltstone.
Hand picked at night in the second week of February.
Whole bunch pressing, followed by a cold sedimentation for 48 hours. Indigenous alcoholic fermentation in barrel (20% new oak).
The wine is aged for 6 months in French oak barrels with light bâtonnage.
Colour: vibrant golden yellow.
Nose: fresh crisp nose with notes of brioche, exotic fruits and slight toasty notes.
Palate: supple & fresh with a generous round structure supported by a good balance between acidity and minerality.
